I will dig up some trees from my garden this year and plant some new stuff to grow out in the ground.

This thread is to document the trees i will plant now to keep track of development.

Ill start with 5x linden seedlings that i got from jelle.

The trees:

idea i had this terracotta trays so i drilled a hole trough the middle so i could screw the trees on to plant them in the ground like that.
all prepared guess its a sort of ebihara but no nails involved as there were not much roots to start with.

Cut off the roots.
Some straight some at an angle and screwed them on the terracotta trays.
Also shortened some growth.

Planted them in the ground covered the roots with some substrate and put a small layer of soil back on top.
Now we patiëntly wait till they start growing!

Go Bold or Go Home!

tbh, I have never seen the benefit of screwing trees to something, unless you go full root-fusion.
In my world you just create more infection entrances.

Seems if you're going to plant in bonsai soil, you'd want it below where the roots are instead of above them.

So my field is actualy my front garden...
Its not for big scale growing but ill manage to get a few projects going in there its about 4 by 5 meter
It had to be cleaned big time so i did that today.

Then in the front a row of 6 ligustrum as hedge i pruned them now they were up to 2 meter tall but when planted i did prune the roots and trunks so i will dig them up soon then rootprune select trunk continueation and replant them as hedge for couple more years.

Also two massive fuchsia bushes(no pictures yet) i cutback yearly they have to go as they grow to big every year and there Will be tiles on that spot might pot one up but first ill have to get them out and see if theres anything interesting about them if only just for the flowers

Once it swells it will ground layer itself and eventually you cut the tile away

I understand why the pot's there. Why's the bonsai soil above where you want the roots to grow from though.

Because i left only fine roots, if i would have put the heavy wet calyish soil back on top of them i might have broken them straight off.
The roots wil escape and grow meters away anyway just not straight down from the trunk.
I wil see in couple years how this will go
