I concur -Thuja occidentalis - Eastern White Cedar, not red cedar. Another of its common names is Arborvitae. Common names are misleading, it is not a 'true' cedar at all. Neither is the red cedar, that one is a Juniper.
They are common in Ohio, tend to grow in areas with moist soils, often swamps, but can tolerate dry conditions, so they can be found in many different habitats.
It will be at least 5 years or more before this one is ready for any bonsai techniques. For now just grow it up & or out.
