I just wanted to share a photo of my Florida strangler fig pre-bonsai, from a seedling pulled from the top of a parking garage in South Miami Beach in summer 2012. About 4 years ago, I fastened the sapling atop a dome made of 3 inverted terra cotta pots so it would eventually grow roots in a conical trunk-like shape.
Since moving to PA, my dad has been keeping it for me, and it is making excellent progress! I did the first taper creating trunk chop about a year ago and you can see the scar is starting to heal. I think this is going to be an amazing large/extra large bonsai in about 5 more years.
