3000 lightening strikes were recorded as a band of thunder storms made its way across Oregon yesterday. 300+ fires were ignited and extinguished by ready crews and luckily some rain fell as well which kept most fires to an acre or so. The rain also helped crews get an edge on 11 fires burning from storms aweek ago.
It's pretty scary out here folks. The woods are like walking through a bowl of corn flakes, crunch, crunch, crunch! Next month, Aug. is the hot one here, so the situation is getting worse by the day. The little bit of rain that is falling is not enough to water the weeds, let alone water my trees. I've got a good well and plenty of water to go around, but not far away they are fighting for water.
I'm looking at a cloudy sky again this morning and I hear some distant rumblings. We desparately need the rain, but you can keep the lightening, thank you very much.
