Just a short video clip of a field maple developed in the ground from a root cutting off another tree, about 3-4 years in the ground. i just cut it back. im going to dig it up soon, the trunks dont need to be any thicker or they will begin to grow bulges and inverse taper, it will be developed as a forest theme, there are many trunks to work with and branches that can be wired up to form trunks.
it has a few options there are horizontal branches i would like to run across the soil line

Walter's tree for inspo

Here's a Field maple i hacked back around 20th aug... @ConorDash

judging by todays pics the cutback hasnt induced major back budding, there is a bit of new growth here n there, but nothing to be overly concerned about as we approach winter.
note the longer than needed stubs, to compensate for any dieback.

i may have to dig this up and move it over the next few weeks...
doesnt matter, in spring it will explode as a result of the cut back, because of energy stored in the trunk, because its very healthy and also because i will dig it with a sound rootball.
it will go like the clappers.

i find that when most trees are done for the season, not even a late summer cut back will induce a spirt, maybe a weak push but nothing significant.

its good to try stuff out. im not worried ill kill the tree or cause any significant die back.

I may wait until spring to dig this one, from a root cutting it wasnt planted on a tile, just shoved in the ground. so its very solid and i think there are some deep roots, ill need my root slayer spade...
the timing will be right, before any unwanted swelling occurs..
nice leaf size
