Hello there. I am looking to get my hands on some cuttings or seeds of Ficus salicaria somwhere in Europe. I am from Romania and I just cannot find it anywhere. Many thanks.

I’m not sure there are seeds of salicaria since this is pollinated by a moth and no one really knows where salicaria comes from in the wild.
I hope I’m remembering this correctly.
Shipping a live plant may be frowned on by your government.
It’s best to contact a nursery that may be able to source this for you.
Maybe you could contact Wigerts Bonsai in the US since they do have an import license. They may have information on where to obtain one.

They did just have a hurricane so maybe wait a couple weeks to reach them.

You may find these ficus under their past names also ficus nerifolia or ficus salicaria.
Some US stores still sell them under that name.
Maybe you could reach this bonsai studio in UK?

Also there are other threads on this forum about this-

As mentioned above sending plants by mail is an expensive and risky business within the EU. I have tried once and the plant never arrived.
I have several plants and rooted cuttings in Athens and Crete (Greece). If you ever travel to Greece feel free to contact me and I will give you a rooted cutting for free (they are extremely easy to propagate in my location).

I have planted one on the ground as an experiment to see how fast it will grow. Of course it is planted away from structures, undergound pipes because the root system is agressive in ideal conditions.

Thank you very, very much. Personally I will not travel soon to Greece in the near furure due to low budget. But I will try to reach some of my friends to see if anybody is traveling to Greece any time soon. I am skilled of rooting cuttings even though I do it indoors.
