I got two of these as a cuttings off of a giant grafted Gensing ficus. What type does this look like to you guys? Retusa or green island Microcarpa? It’s got nice short internodes and fairly small leaves.
Yep. Microcarpa.I think I answered my own question. It appears to be a green mound Microcarpa.

I have had good success with benjamina in water so I’m trying one of these in water and one in bonsai mix. We will see how it goes. I’m thinking it will root just fine in water.Did these root out nicely for you in water?
If it is ficus compacts that would mean it is a cultivar of ficus Benjamina and not Microcarpa. Ficuses can be so confusingThe cultivar thats grafted on ginseng and typical fused trunks S shape bonsais its Ficus microcarpa var. "Compacta"
It’s very confusing.Dont know that Benjamina, but there is a F microcarpa compacta cultivar, probably have other comercial names also so it might be confusing
