New to the site, been lurking for some time, been a barber in Kentucky for 25 years, so cutting on trees seemed fun.

Anyways, my girlfriend's mother had just about killed a ficus she had, most of the root was soft, so I snipped it up into cuttings. I have had this idea for a while, though I haven't seen it done. I am kind of curious what you folks think it will do, I was initially thinking of placing it over a rock, but now I think I want to see what kind of nebari it will produce once the trunks all fuse and it grows out. I wired the trunks together, then made a loop of wire and placed the trunks in a spoke pattern over the loop. Once they take root I will pot the clump up.

Looking good as an idea but come cuttings may not root and you will have to readjust the composition. Happened to me before when some died so now I just stick to rooting separately and merging when roots establish after a year.
For some reason I had several ficus cuttings this year and not a single one rooted.

They are still hanging in there just fine and have been potted up for a few weeks, they started rooting after a few days in water as usual and are still green as ever. Only buried the roots in maybe 1/3 inch of bonsai soil in a plastic pot and keep a pretty close eye on the soil so it doesn't dry completely out being so little soil. We shall see if they all survive, figure the cuttings are so easy this would be a fun experiment, didn't know what it would do for developing a nebari.
