Is this Willow Leaf Ficus dying or damaged? I can't tell. I'm still a beginner, and looks like the leaves are brown.

That looks like a picture from BonsaiBoy. Avoid that place like your life depends on it.

Oh this one:

Which is also the picture from Bonsai Boy:

I'd pass on it, you don't know what that $140 is buying you.

What do you think about these Ficus? I really like both the shohin's. I could buy both, and and only spend $140. I also like the bigger ones too.

14 in $125

12 in $125 (I could possibly do a windswept form on this one?)

Below is 6 in Shohin $60

GarlR, none of your images are showing up in the thread for me. Maybe there are just some problems at imageshack. You should try uploading your pics to imgur.com or just saving them and attaching them to your forum posts.

In my thread needing help with a Willow Leaf my Wifes has done that every year when I bring it in fot the winter. Everyone agrees the Willow Leaf will drop leaves any time it is moved or it experiences a climate change. My Wife has one for several years and as she says the beauty of it is it drops before the leaves get to big so it kind of self-defoliates :) As one member said, As long as the leaf dropping is followed by new growth there is nothing to worry about with that species.

All of those trees look overpriced to me. Are there any bonsai nurseries near you?

GarlR post your location. We might be able to help you find a local nursery that might work better for your needs. I think you will find you are better off buying from a bonsai nursery that specializes in tropicals, than in buying from importers who don't really know anything about what they are selling. I find that I get better quality for a lower price, in general, from a nursery. There can sometimes be exceptions but they typically aren't the rule.
