There appears to be at least two main ways of developing an informal upright, and I was wondering if some of the more experienced folks could chime in to discuss the differences and when yo use each. One method involves growing two shoots opposite each other - one is wired upwards as the new leader and the other is wired as the first branch. The main features of this method is that the trunk is cut straight and the two shoots grow from the same plain. In the second method, the trunk is cut at an angle and the first branch is placed lower than the new leader. What are the pros and cons of each method?
