Spring 2024:
Repot to Anderson Flat, slanting
Organic soil, fert
Feed and grow to further develop

Summer 2024 - Fall 2025:
Continue Develop branching
Vertical-Top/bottom prune as needed
Junction prune as needed
Wire as needed

Fall 2025-Fall 2026:
Assess wire and overall growth by Fall 2026
Consider branch removal (bottom 2/3 L side)

Fall 2026-Fall 2027:
Recover & grow until Fall 2027
Branch removal (remaining 1/3 top L side)
Consider wiring branches as windswept
Consider keeping branches angled down

Spring 2028:
Repot, reduce root system (non-bonsai)

Spring 2029:
Repot into bonsai container
1:1:1 Akadama, Pumice, Lava rock

Following the rule of 1 insult per year, the process of consecutive branch removal from the left side of the tree along with consecutive repotting to transition into bonsai soil should go well. Calendar years are rough estimates.

My observation on DAS is that they are very slow to respond to work, either recovering or dying. Double the time of standard spruce is my current guess.
This tree was thinned and wired sometime in the last year? If so it is not ready for any work. Wait another year.
