Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal or if it's some kind of infection. It's my first summer with this tree so I just want to be sure.

Thanks in advance

I would put that down to sunburn if I saw it here.
Has the tree moved from shaded to more sun?
Any hotter than usual days?
Watering up to scratch? Forsythia is a pretty tough species but mine seem to need plenty of water through summer. Small pots need more water and a full canopy of leaves directs a lot of water off and away from the soil so make sure enough water reaches the pot and soaks into the soil whenever you do water.

I was considering if scorch was the reason, but I keep reading that they can tolerate loads of sun, I guess I'll try moving it to a more shaded position and see if that helps. It has been extremely hot for the last week or two, for sure. If anything I'm overwatering it, it's in a decently sized container IMO so it's not the first thing to dry out, at least. Thanks for the input
