20161215_162654_001-2268x3024.jpg Purchased this tree at our bonsai society meeting last night. Starting to lose its leaves. Closest thing to color in my neck of the woods.

I could...I am new to bonsai, so right now I am in to just understanding how to let them grow and be healthy. The fun part will come later.

I like the pot although itlooks a little small for a tree in development.
Nice tree and good luck in your bonsai adventure!

Nice bark, they're pretty rare here. My little one comes from the UK, after three years, the bark is still young.

You can style it as a taller tree or get more trees by air-layering. If you want more trees, start AL "from the top"... You know, if the air layer doesn't take you will not lose a half or three quarters of the tree.

Don't remove the low branches, you'll need them to thicken the lower part of the trunk regardless of how you train the tree.

Personally, I would pot up to a larger container and let it grow and thicken up and eventually shorten the tree
