If I have a 10 inch pot, how large should the drip/humidity tray be in comparison?

Looking at a rectangular/oval pot.

What type of tree and where are you keeping it?

Brian is right, they are not required in any way... Most people only use drip trays indoors to collect water draining through the pot. The size is not a real issue as long as it is larger than the pot.

In my indoor experience.

Its only good to have a drip tray, which in my case is anything it will fit in, to water a little if you have no time. Or to not have a couple drops drip after properly watering in the sink.

This actually (in free draining soil) prevents you from daily watering correctly, unless Your tray is twice as deep as the pot, and the pot sits above the water level after proper watering. Which is usually about 2-3 inches.

Then you have to empty the water anyway!
