I am trying to wrap up my plans for collecting a few more of the larger cedar elms I am working on. The buds are just starting to open here in central Texas and when summer hits it will be 100 degrees in no time. The question is when is my ideal time to collect and when is too late? My fear is that if I wait too late that they will not have any recovery time before it is blazing hot. Cedar elm is tough in the heat but even watering twice a day stressed out my full sized trees last summer. I think we set a record here for the most days over 100. It was months.
