Collected California Juniper

This is one of the three Cal Junipers that I collected outside of Bishop early fall of last year on a trip organized by Lotus Bonsai nursery. This was growing at the base of a much larger juniper, that I had collected as well, and was actually growing vertical along the larger ones trunk. I had originally thought that it was a lower branch that had gotten buried in pumice but after digging I was able to get two trees for the work of collecting one.

This one is starting to push new growth with the other two starting to show bulging at the tip ends.

The four junipers I got on that trip are looking promising too. They better live since they cost me a pickup truck!
BTW, I think the trees we got are Utah junipers, not Californias. I had them in the cab on the way home, phew! I thought a cat had peed in my new truck.
