Sapling
I received this coastal redwood as a gift. The trunk is only 1.5” thick and it is about 21” tall. I was looking to get a few uncut younger redwoods to grow them into much larger material over some years. Unfortunately and with the best intentions a loved one got me a “bonsai” already made to make it easier.
Will taking this out of the bonsai pot in spring and planting it in a bigger grow pot fatten the trunk and grow it out?
Will it look alright trying to make it a bigger tree after this large cut was made?
Did this set back the process of letting grow till I was happy with trunk thickness dramatically to the point I should just get more and make this as ok as it can be?
I’m probably going to get more regardless but I would really like to try to make this into a nice tree.
Please any advice on this tree would be greatly appreciated. I am in 7B and trying to figure out what to do with this guy in the spring. Thanks!
