@namnhi gave it to me yesterday. I took a bunch of cuttings and sorted out the roots.

Potted it in no @penumbra pot then at the last minute decided to take away the second trunk. So now the tree is way over potted but I have very few pots so for now it is in that pot.

I like what you did. No wonder you up early today. The roots must be tough to sort out. I have always curious of this can be successful root as root cutting since they do sucker quiet a bit.

I stick the cuttings in a bucket with 2” of sand in the bottom and fill the bucket to 4”. Later on all I have to do is to continually tap the side of the bucket while pulling the cuttings and roots out of the sand. Easy peasy.

The tree definitely does not yet match the quality of the pot. Thankfully Wrightia religiosa grows fast. I hope it will grow to match the pot.

@Cajunrider Uncle, Can we have an update on this one please? Wondering if your cutting, root cuttings live?

I accidentally knocked over the cutting bucket when taking out the garbage can. All cuttings dried out and died. The main tree is growing beautifully. I might wire some of the new branches this fall.

Tree grew well with 2 nice branches on top. They have been wired just enough to set angles. There are also 3 shoots at the bottom that will ne kept as sacrifice to fatten the base.

I have a pre-bonsai water jasmine that I had cut to shohin size in a class a year and a half ago. I put one of the long very thin stems and stuck it in the dirt on the side of my rose garden. It only got whatever water that fell from the sky. I've ignored it and it's amazing. The trunk is now almost as big as the tree I cut it from. My pre-bonsai is ready to be potted but so is the cutting. We honestly ignored it for the last year and a half and it's amazing how well it's done.
I don't know if I'd bother with a small cutting but the long thin ones...Yes!

Coming along nice. I like what you did to it... go big or go home approach. Should be blooming soon.

It is interesting to note that I carefully fertilized the tree and get the new branches and leaves to look really healthy but the original leaves that showed signs of deficiency never change the color back to normal.

Severe cut back today. I let the tree grew wild for root recovery and the tree grew some big shoots. I cut them all off today.
