Do Chinese elms do well in North florida, I've had a few of these leggy fruitcakes for a couple years now and boy are they disappointing, I up potted them two years ago in a similar potting soil mix into larger containers, they are probably root bound now but their development is sooo slow. They were trunk chopped when I got them and I have just let them run to get a wider base but not much happing down there. I winterted them in an uninsulated garage- not even sure why but maybe that's there problem, probable need a good winter outdoors. Is there any hope for these things? Maybe I should plant them in the ground next spring and forget about them but the deer will probable eat them.
