Got these from my niece that lives in Japan yesterday. She came in for her sister’s wedding and brought this for me. Maybe I should have had her or her boyfriend translate the paper for me?

She was having too much fun dancing and catching with family.

Hope I can keep them alive. These are from Mikawa Prefecture or Island per my niece.

requested my niece bring me 100 Mikawa Japanese Black Pine seeds, received 254 seeds.

Should have had my niece translate the directions for me.

Let them soak for almost two weeks, everyone in the house was sick.

Put in fridge for another 65 day’s in a zip lock bag with sphagnum moss.

Planted in pumice fines on about May 19th after last chance of frost is May 15th.

Two Jiffy seed starter kits used as planters with lids. Placed some sphagum moss in with the seeds.

Last week checked on them, one had some seeds popping.

The other had about an inch of water sitting in it from all the rain. Drained it and left top off till today to dry out. Added a small amount of water, and covered again.

The first tray had twenty sprouts growing with a few seeds sending out roots. I covered those with a sprinkle of pumice fines and added just over a cup of water, as I had propped up the lid after all the rain.

One of the seedlings was laying on its side with no roots. Looked green and plump so I placed back in the pumice to see if a self root cutting seedling can make it.
