Hi everyone,

I have had this Buddhist Pine for a couple of years now.
Last year it suffered with the leaves browning and dropping, I didn't mess about with it but left it all this year in the hope I may get some new buds, but it hasn't happened.

What could I do to encourage new growth or has it gone beyond repair?

Many Thanks
Ma

Inside or outside. What is you location? More about the plants care.

Knowing what part of the world will help.
Knowing some more about how you look after the tree will also help.

The shoots on the live parts look healthy enough so I suspect the branches without shoots have died. Can't tell you what caused that until we know more about the where and how.
Losing the lower branch is probably a good thing because opposite bar branches don't look good for bonsai.
Losing the top part is often good too because that allows you to reduce height a bit. Just trim off the dead part and bend one of the branches upward as a replacement apex.

Thank you,

I am in Gloucester in the UK.
I repotted the tree about 6 months prior to the issues. Fed monthly, It's kept outside, except in the winter where it's brought in and kept on a bright windowsill.
