Brazilian rain tree help

I have had this Brazilian rain tree and it has always had a brown peeling moist bottom is that normal?

I couldn't tell you why it happens but my Brazilian has had the same thing since I got it like 6 years ago.


What I've been doing to try to avoid that it cover the trunk with my hand when I water to keep the base dry, although through capillary movement it still gets somewhat moist but not as much as if you just water like normal. I don't think it's a big deal though

BRT peels the bark. Young trees only at the base. Fully normal.
