wow... lots of BRT posts lately, they are quickly becoming one of my favorite species to work with.

Does anyone have experience thread grafting BRT's? I have one that desperately needs a branch where there is currently none. There was a branch that wasn't ideal, but I broke it off when I was trying to lower it to a better position. I'm hoping that losing that branch will induce some new buds there, but it hasn't happened yet.

I'll give it some time, but if it doesn't happen can I thread graft?

I'm not exactly sure where the buds will break or where they are more likely to break, but they're 100% sure to come; and depending on the vigor of the tree, it will keep budding, and those buds will grow into new branches very quickly.

As far as grafting goes, I read that they're a bit finicky...but it's an option.

I have no experience with it but have heard others say they do root grafts with no issues, so I dont see why you shouldn't be able to do a normal graft without too much difficulty. I would wait and see if some start to grow in beforehand though.
