I have decided to chop the trunk on this tree also the tree is root bound with roots coming out the bottom of the nursery pot so i will take care of that tomorrow..pics to come when im finished

Why chop it? Roots coming out of the bottom don't necessarily mean its root bound.

Chop because for one it's to tall to be a bonsai and for two..I like smaller trees. I lifted it out of the pot..it's root bound.

I have several other junipers i will be posting up soon.

I let this tree grow out for the growing season with a little cut back once shoots got to be 5" or so. I will let it grow for another season and see then how its doing. Right now its very healthy, still producing a few new buds. Still warm here, we still fighting mosquitoes. Pic tomorrow

I wish you had jinned the trunk, keeping at least 6 inches of dead wood above the chop. Juniper do not heal wounds the same way a deciduous tree does. The chop will be very difficult to make look natural. A Jin, dead wood, is a good way to "disguise the hand of man", at least for junipers.

With that chop, it will be a decade or more before you can make a natural looking transition from lower trunk to the upper section. A dead wood Jin would have made a natural transition.

Sorry about the bad review. Just being honest. In the future always leave a Jin, longer that you can imagine needing. Later it can be carved and reduced to correct length.
