I like these for a non bonsai brand pruning shears that are cheap and work well on leaf pruning and twig pruning.
These will not take the place of branch cutters but for fine cutting they are great
I usually get mine at Home Depot or Lowes
Again they wont replace a good branch cutter which have specialized shape for bonsai but they are still useful to have around
They will rust but if you clean them and use some 3 in 1 oil on them after you use them they will last a while. I have gotten a few years out of a pair but I do keep spares in case.
There are lots of tools you can use in place of the more expensive bonsai specific tools.
You are going to have to get a good branch cutter and/or knob cutter at some point though. There really isnt a non bonsai equivalent that can do what those do.
I believe Adair told me about these ones. I have a stainless steel tool set...three pairs of scissors and these are still my go to. Have had them since 2014 Amazon order states. Still my favorite.
