Baby blue spruce. Picea pungens ‘Baby Blue’

These were half off just after Christmas.
I paid $60 from Home Depot this January
I’ve kept it watered this winter and did some minor cleanupwhat a mess.
I recently dug up its new site/ home.

I have a horrible track record with spruces. I want to transition this one slowly towards being a possible bonsai in the future, but at the same time, knowing that it may remain a garden tree.

I was very surprised to recently read that spruces don’t like to be transplanted Into cold soil. Like soil below 55 degrees F.
The ground is obviously thawed, but I think I’ll wait Till things warm up a bit more.
Thoughts/experience on this?
