Finally got around to finishing up collecting and potting up my acorns. Probably have about 100-150 total…which is way too many for my tiny garden, but 🤷‍♂️.

So far I have:
Texas Live Oak (Quercus fusiformis)
Southern Live Oak (Quercus virginiana)
Overcup Oak (Quercus lyrata)
Shumard Oak (Quercus shumardii)
And various unknowns from acorns I’ve collected at parks. I believe some to be pin, post, and bur oaks. We will see come next year.

You can always pot the leftovers in a local forest. That's what I'm planning on doing

Been a crazy wet year so far for N. Texas. Most of my acorns never germinated or ended up rotting due to the amount of rain we’ve gotten. I only have a few oaks that are doing well so far. Shumard oak is by far the most vigorous of the bunch. A couple of my unknown acorns did end up being pin oaks. Out of all my TX live oak acorns, only 4 have made it and they’ve been struggling. There’s a bunch of seedlings out front I might collect for the hell of it. They get mowed down every week anyway so figured might just rip out a few and see what survive.
