I am using the first available version of the app, and I guess it has nice features so far, like the Reminders, history, and general tips about most species used in bonsai.
On the other hand, features like being able to sort the collection by species or dates, filters to show only part of the collection, and counters - or/and statistics -, apparently are on their way for the next versions.
If you are trying out the app, please let's discuss what features you would like to see implemented.

Note: I am in no way whatsoever affiliated with the Bonsai Empire, I am just a curious user in need of a good cataloguing solution to keep track of my trees.

Nope, Oscar did ask me to review, but I am old school I suppose. Bonsai.. Is not about apps for me.
Bonsai.is still bonsai for me; anything between 2 to 6 hours a day with the trees, outdoors, yes; I have a pretty strong tan by now.
But on the other hand any tool that helps me keeping track of my trees, and that doesn't remotely looks like Excel, will be welcome.

I already do quite extensive cataloging/databasing of my collection of trees and pots. Sadly, I think any general offering will be significantly underpowered compared to the capabilities I’ve already built with Notion. The Mirai app interests me somewhat more, but even then I don’t care to keep my data in two places.

Im in this boat as well. I tried the BE app and wasn't super impressed (and I'm a big fan of their courses) . Notion + AI generated custom care guides for my zone far outmatch most app offerings.

BE uploaded a big update on their app last night, with many improvements.
I've been using the tool since January, and it is slowly fulfilling all my needs.
Some of the improvements are listed below:

Here’s what’s new:

  • Organize your Bonsai into custom collections
  • Add bonsai pots and collectibles
  • New fields added for age, height, price, etc.
  • Added new tree species (140 in total)
  • Added German, Dutch and Spanish language
A few important bug fixes:

  • Remain logged in to the app
  • Improved performance
  • Photos can be in any dimension
  • Shorter add tree flow for non-beginners (see account settings)
  • Improved reminders

And this is what’s coming up:

  • Set custom reminders
  • Social sharing
So if you use it, have fun!

The free version is useless if you can only add a few trees and I'm not going to pay $30 per year for more options.
It's just another way of making money for Bonsai Empire IMO.
