I’ve picked up an interest in bonsái since this summer and I’ll likely stick with it. I’m wondering if there’s an experienced bonsai-er within driving distance who’d be interested in helping me learn more about the hobby. One can only learn so much from reading forums and watching YouTube.

I'm a beginner (first post here) and have been a member of the Knoxville club for two years. We have members who come to our meetings from all over East Tennessee, second Saturday of the month. I believe that our club was started by Bjorn's dad when Bjorn was just 13 years old. Shannon from Kusa farm is a past president.

That’s great, thanks.
Tim Weckman has a bonsai nursery in Berea Kentucky also, not sure far that is from you though.
That’s almost a 4 hour ride for me. Thanks for the info.

One of our workshops for the Knoxville club last year and in the coming year was with Tim Weckman. He also judged our show this past October and gave a great evaluation of every tree. We also got a private tour of the bonsai at the NC Arboretum with Arthur Joura, sadly just 5 days before the hurricane. Last year, before he moved to Japan, we went to a private tour of Bjorn's place near Nashville. Our president, Dat Tran, is a student of Bjorn. Come and join us some time. We have a friendly and welcoming club.

Highly recommend Dat Tran and the Knoxville club. I know there is also a club in the Johnson City/Kingsport area, but I don't know them personally
