Well the seeds arrived.
But I am not too sure how alive these seeds might be.
Package is seeds and broken organic bits, I am more
accustomed to seeds and vacuum seal.

None the less, my entry.
Planting should be after February, when our "winter' is over.
Good Day

Seeds soaked yesterday, planted today, image and information to follow.

Two hundred and something, boring, and there were three of us.
Used to planting 30 seeds or so. [ lazy I ]
Fortunately found 2 trays that held 98 and I believe 128 apiece.

Not going the lift and cut away roots, as down here the trees form surface roots
naturally, and with a little guidance, can be very pretty.[ hee hee only 2 so far going towards bonsai ]
Should be about 10 days and fingers crossed.
More later.

The trays -

Information ---- 24 hour soak
Soil is basic peat moss / perlite with added silica based gravel. Pre-watered.
After watering, tray left to drain properly.

Seed sellers.
[1] Some seller pretending to be Hirts from Brunei, smallest seeds I have ever seen
24 and 3 floating [ reported to Amazon ]

[2 ] Seedville - 10 seeds 0 floating

[3] Eve's garden bonsai kit [ 2 ] -------58 large seeds 0 floating

[4 ] German seeds [ Saflax ] - 82 seeds -------- 4 floating

[5] Tree seed plus - 80 seeds ----------- 0 floating
,
250 seeds planted

The ones floating went into a separate styro cup

Treatment ------- seeds were received in the mail, and placed in a
plastic bottle, stored in the vegetable crisper and before planting soaked for
24 hrs. Then planted.

What matters is which seed is aggressive.

Image of the trays below.
Good day

Good luck Anthony! and you have no winter :p:p:p

All jokes aside though, did you consider starting them in the green house to give them a head start?

Okay have a good laugh at us.:D

Remember the tiny seeds from Brunei.
Well guess who was the first to germinate ?

Yup. Mr./ Mrs Brunei.

The Brunei seeds also came in a foil sealed package.
Image below.

Hope it is a J.B.pine.
Good Day

@StoneCloud ,

Green House ? Normally J.B pines germinate for us in 7 to 10 days.
This February is a little odd though.

Temperature at night averaging between 66 to 68 deg.F and breezy / sunny by day.

So we took a real look at those seed packs.
The one listed as 30 seeds have over 100, and the ones listed as 120, are up at 300 or so.
Of course the numbers drop back down if you are selecting big, medium and small.

Thus the obvious was done, planted another 100.:)

BUT only the very aggressive will be chosen.

Eve seeds, coming up slowly.

Thinking about casting some earthenware pots .

Well we are being hit by 67, 68 deg.F nights and highs of 82 to 86 deg.F

Discovered that Eve's Garden seeds may be from 1996 or so.
They are just now coming up.
But they were nice fat seeds. Thus far about 8.

Decided that they should have 1 small Blaucorm pebble - 12 N ......
apiece.
,
The Eve's seeds came with a pot per box. So the first seed is getting a pot
and being kept as a 3 incher. Unless it shows super powers.

18th planted to 25th coming up -more children out of the 100 last planted.
Good Day

Alexandra,

it is just sales. Did you look at the page ?
The item is hideous and made of plastic.
Plus what can you grow in it ?

However the seeds are large and plump.
The Japanese seed we used to get was similar and gave us good stock
for Bonsai.
So if we are lucky, maybe 3 or 4 more to add to the stable.

And if we are really lucky a naturally short needled pine, with big chunky cracking
bark.
Good Day

So we have needles forming and it is one day before a month of growing.
Not much else will happen for about 2 months.
Then they [ 10 ] get transplanted in clay pots.

The rest will be given away.

We are presently on overload as spots for full sun goes.
Mind you K has been itching to replace the galavnised roof
with a concrete roof and upstairs / roof top bonsai.
We will seeo_O:eek::eek:

This pine is a softwood and normally soft wooded trees
produce surface roots, they just need to be guided into
the design.
So no tiles under the tree or other.

Additionally our sun encourages, shorter seedlings and often
tons of buds at the cotyledons.
Have an example to show you, when I can make some time
and image it.
Still making furniture for the house by the sea, Mayaro.

The 1 out of 5 hardwood cuttings is taking it's toll. stock of
fast growing stock,
Of course they still have to prove on the visual trunk quality,
comes with age, and the elusive short needles.
Come on natural hybrid with 1 inch needles:eek::eek:
Good Day
