Air layering Bradford Pear?

Am I correct in the thinking that I should wait until after the tree flowers to attempt any air layering?

Air layering is a simple process; roots grow from the girdle becuase of the accumulation of auxin and photosynthate. In other words, there must be hardened foliage for roots to be induced and grow. I does not matter when you make the girdle, so make the girdle and etc. when it is easy to see what you are doing. Do it now if you want or wait until you've enjoyed the flowers. Then be patient.
