Acer Palmatum (Japanese Maple) #5

Well, this 4yrs from seed. Its just been making the rounds in the garden. Once the root structure is good. Ill ground grow for a few years.

I’m game for that!

Good coloration on your JM Orion! That should develop into a very unique tree. Nice low branching too.

Thanks! Not sure what the ultimate style will be. I think next year's growth will really hint at where the tree will go. The low branch is nice and will probably stay, even if it is on that slight inside bend.

Always nice to have that sacrificial to help thicken things up nicely.

End of year. Without leaves. Cleaned up some debris. Going back outside for the winter under the benches and in the mulch. Was going to repot next year but it's draining fine so... will leave it for another year.

End of year. Grew ok. I think it needs a repot since its been a couple years. Added 1/10" of an inch in thickness. Marked for repot. Has nice bud placement so hopefully next year after repot and a good spring of fertilization I can get a decent structural prune on it.
