5yr Native Tree Challenge - Kadebe's #3 Ligustrum Ovalifolium #1

Nice!

I love the look of Privets.. but know quite little about them...

How is their growth rate? They seem like, in observation alone, to be buxus-like in their habits, but honestly have NO idea, s’why’m asking.

I really don't know :)
The label says after 10 years 300 cm (almost 10 ft)
I guess I'll find out eventually. I'll plant it in the garden for the next 2 yrs

Fixed some inverse taper on the alder will prune back branches after leaves fall. Pitch pine was re-wired

Privet grows much faster than buxus. It will thicken up a lot after a couple of years growing freely in the ground.

buying a privet seems so weird to me, being they're an invasive species here in AL. they're almost invincible when they get established in the ground. you can chop them back as hard as you want and they'll backbud. they airlayer easily. the only thing i don't like about them is the callus on big wounds doesn't usually close all the way?
