Hi all, I have been growing about 30 JBP's in Phoenix, AZ for the past couple of years now. I have been noticing that about half the growth from last year came out about 90% in bundles of 3s, not 2s. The low branches and the tops are almost all, if not all, bundles of 2 needles.
I have been searching the web, but I haven't found a single article about this possibility and what it means, if anything.
I appreciate any information you allmay have

I've had it happen to some of my scots pines and other pines when they're in an overpruned situation.
It indeed wasn't a big deal, but it was a sign that I was being too enthusiastic about some actions.

Thanks for the reply. What kind of actions were you being too enthusiastic about?

Repotting, pruning 50% of the trunk off, and styling all in one go.

It's been 5 years and it's still in recovery, producing stressed growth.
