They’re not as beefy as they appear in my initial photos. All under the 3cm at base including the twin trunk.

It will be a challenge. I haven’t attempted a Shohin twin trunk before.

Buds are about to burst so I will have to repot in the next couple of days. I want to get them out of the small nursery pots and into a better soil mix and wider pots to increase taper. Not sure quite what I’m going to find rootwise but the bud health suggests it should be okay.

Repotted the larches into medium sized pond baskets for this season. The roots were pretty good but I had to accept the orientation suggested by them. I will let them recover before making further decisions.
