    What is this in the soil?

    Hi I noticed this new green sprout superficially covered by the top soil layer when I was watering my mini sekka hinoki today (got it 1 week ago). What can it be and should I remove it to prevent it from competing for water and nutrients with my hinoki? Thank you.
