I'm an old Hippy with a new hip.

I'm recovering from hip replacement surgery a week ago and while I'm allowed short walks around the house with a walker I'm forbidden to go down to my bonsai garden. Thank God for my wonderful wife who brings my trees up to the house so I can try to keep up with Spring pinching. Here's a Kandy...

New Nao pot for my California juniper.

I collected this small, chuhin size Cali about 10 years ago with Harry Hirao. I've had it in a Jim Gremel moon pot as a semi cascade but never really liked the pot... looked like PacMan eating a tree. I got this pot from Nao at the Pacific Expo and put the tree in it in a more upright position...

    Stolen Bonsai!

My friend and club member had 3 trees stolen last night at 3:30 AM in Sacramento, CA . Unfortunately the security video wasn't clear enough to identify the two thieves. Here are two trees, a cork bark black pine and a pomegranate. Also taken was a hornbeam forest.

Sometimes you just have to go for it....

I've had this Holly Oak, Quercus ilex for a few years. It has nice bark, thick trunk, good branching.... and horrible roots. Decided yesterday to do something about it. We'll see how it works. Stay tuned.

    Another day in Paradise (quarantine)

Staying home all day is good for my bonsai. I got to spend about five hours thinning, wiring, and compacting the foliage on this Utah Juniper I collected around 2013 in the White Mountains. My goal was to expose more of the amazing natural deadwood.
