    Mountain mahogany?

I didn't read the whole thread so I'm sorry if this was already covered. But it sounds like you have a birchleaf mountain mahogany, same family but have egg shaped leaves that are serrated towards the tip? We have curlleaf mountain mahogany growing all over just outside of my town. Good luck...

What to do with this elm?

I keep getting tempted to work on foliage and branches but my instincts say let lay and allow the trunk to develop, but since the roots are going wild on my tree I think I need to train them now while letting trunk thicken I think??

What to do with this elm?

This is the whole tree. I fertilized with an all purpose fertilizer and it seem to shock or burn or something (yellow/brown leaves) but after about a week or so the plant started to explode with new growth.

What to do with this elm?

I grew this elm from a seed 1 1/2 years ago and this is how it has developed. I haven't done anything with this tree except transplant it once to 3 gallon pot. Never made time to do anything style wise. Does anyone have an idea of a way I can utilize this naturally formed root formation into...

First steps when harvesting a tree?

Well the only other "trees species" is a trashy brush willow so it's my only option around here. it' high desert so greesewood, sagebrush and juniper are what grows here. I wouldn't attempt a more specimen tree for just your reasoning I have very little experience. I have a collected a tamarack...

First steps when harvesting a tree?

Hello nutters! I just had a question on recommend first steps when harvesting trees from nature? These are all Juniper trees. I live in grow zone 6a at the base of the Steens mountains it can be VERY windy so I do my best to provide protection from fatal drying winds. Anyway haven't harvested...

    2017 Last purchase tree(s)

Yeah, they are an invasive species but because of that they are extremely hardy and cheap ;) technically Junipers are an invasive species around here and people love them as Bonsai haha (yes not necessarily the same species of Juniper)

    2017 Last purchase tree(s)

I ordered my last tree in December but it won't be shipped tell tomorrow 1/2/18. The ever seemingly unpopular incense cedar. The tree/shrub I got right after Christmas is a total experiment, Rhamnus Frangula I don't know if I'll be able to turn it into anything but who cares I'll love them just...

What do people think of this pot?

@AZbonsai @just.wing.it I live in a 1970s mobile home. It was probably left by the previous tenant it was mostly berried along with a dead rose in a pot and a couple other small pots. Central Oregon is surrounded by active volcanoes and you cant dig two feet in without hitting lava rock. I'm...

What do people think of this pot?

I thought about the freezing factor and that it might be a problem. I filled it with water this summer and it slowly drained out over the course of the day. I am not sure what else it was intended for.... I might plant something in there and just see how it goes!

What do people think of this pot?

So what do people think of this? It's a cinder rock pot of sorts I found buried beside my house. I have the tools to drill a drainage hole...though not sure about punching a bunch of anchor holes... Anyhow just wanted to see people's thoughts. It's quite light for its size!

Wife gets a swimming pool, I get the wisteria

Ha ha ha ha ha okay so I may be the WORST woman to be asked a question like that but I couldn't help but laugh. If I had a pool in my backyard I would be using it in less conventional ways... like teaching people how to Eskimo roll there kayak, or practicing flat water tricks. Besides a few...

    Christmas bonsai

Thank you @Leo in N E Illinois I took probably three super minor branches off and then finished taking off a few broken tips. I wanted to wait until at least spring to prune anyway because I thought that buying a tree already baren of leaves for the winter doesn't allow me to easily see if...
