Show me a bonsai I haven't come close to killing, and I'll show you a shitty bonsai.

"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated,"

Conditions are called "conditions" because they need to be conditioned, and are aforestated most likely because they cannot on their own partake of wonderfulness without qualified input from Zappa or Savage or perhaps even Trumpian right-wingers... certainly you agree .....

"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated,"

I AM a Tibetan Monk, just living far from home this life-time, and finding the monk thing vastly over-rated compared to retirement coupled with COVID imprisonment Glad to hear the trees are doing well, and that you are enjoying them! Yes, back in the States, and not trying a third time to make...

"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated,"

... but rumors of my starting another book or two are true ... It has been ten years since Gnarly Branches, Ancient Trees was published, and Dan Robinson's inherent inclination to create bonsai that capture the wild trees seen in remote areas of North America has evolved, grown into an even less...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

Well, Google's motto of course was "Don't Be Evil" I believe, later changed to "Do the Right Thing". Seems they knew all along it was a BS smokescreen. Your suggestion isn't very pleasing. You can do that if you want - I'll just stop posting here since BNut can't take responsibility for...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

"So, here are all my current Mulawin - my first loves in PI bonsai. They were by far hit hardest by the neglect - I lost only two, but most of the others - though likely to make it - are slow to come back as well." .... ....... Well .... Yes, that's how this post started out, once I finally...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

Well, it's got a name I'm sure, but I don't know it... and it's sort of not even a bonsai I suppose, but more a potted plant, but It's always a favorite of mine, and I need something to adorn this old Chinese pot. Sweat - produced in the Philippines' climate, and then wiped from one's brow...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

Well, here's another Fukien Tree. Never did much with it before I left, but it is in great shape and I'm starting now - as with most of my other trees here - with simple clip-and-grow to clean things up and get some fullness where I want it, and stimulate copious back-budding in those trees with...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

A Bougy. Not really into flowering trees too much, but these also just make good bonsai. Another is too large/heavy to move for a photo, but maybe later today a worker will help me when he comes by to help my wife with something else. THAT one is really nice, and has a few flowers currently. Enjoy!

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

Getting the hang of this now, so a couple more today if the software gods will look kindly on me. So, here's a small Fukien Tea, one of my favorite species for Penjing, and one of two I have here. It never lost a beat in my absence, robust as all get-out. Must be the huge colony of small ants...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

So, I'll post what I have slowly in a number of posts ... Some of you have undoutedly seen some of these before a few years ago, and some have deteriorated quite a bit. These two beauties are the same general species I believe, but I don't recall the name. Processing these with software that's...

Trying to Post Some Rescued Tropicals

Back in the PI after 18+ months, trying to revitalize several things .... including some of my old collection. Two at least died, the rest were largely near death when I got here, but I've been able start most back on track both horticulturally and aesthetically. LOTS of trouble trying to take...

    Is nothing safe?

What's the old saying? .... some variant on, "Beer will get you through times of no meat, pasta, flour and veggies, better than meat, pasta, flour and veggies will get you through times of no beer ..." In Colonial days, such a large percentage of men's caloric intake was from beer that the...

    Anyone seen Will?

I'm familiar with quite a few of his translations. My favorite is probably, "The Clouds Should Know Me by Now: Translations of Buddhist Poet Monks of China", but all the ones I've read were great. He Lives in Port Townsend, WA (town motto: "We're all here because we're not all there!"), a crazy...

LOL!!! You remembered my saying that, you old devil!!! Glad the meds are working! I think mine, BTW, are due for some tweaking lately! I'm closing my practice again, and probably for good, maybe heading over to spend time in long retreat in some Buddhist temples in the mountains of Northern...
