Prunus Mume trees are starting to bloom

Here's an interesting one. It's one of the 4 or 5 years old seedlings that have started to flower this year. It's outer petals are pink while the inner ones are white. Very nice. Maybe I have created a new variety...

Prunus Mume trees are starting to bloom

I think the coldest nights had like -8C or so. But overall it is quite warm spring - the agricultural people say for example apricots bloom a month earlier than usual.

2 European Hornbeams - almost flawless yamadori material

Hey, thanks for the interest. The trees are in winter mode now - all of them on the ground because temperatures here drop to -5 (sometime -8)˚C... When I put them back on the benches sometime in March, I'll take some photos... The new ones I posted in 2020 didn't make it unfortunately...

Prunus Mume Propagation by Hardwood Cuttings During Early Winter - The Peter Adams Method

This year I was working with misting rooter trying semi-hardwood cuttings of varieties: Beni Chidori and Omoi No Mama. Took several months (from May or June till end of September) but Beni Chidori had a great ratio of rooted cuttings - like 80%. Omoi No Mama was not so successful - about 30-40%...

New better Product on the market to replace Akadama

Well I use something I am even more satisfied with than Akadama. It's called Zeolite. Great cation exchange rate. Great water retention. Doesn't break up with time. Unbeatable price. The only downside is weight.

    Millettia Japonica

I managed to root a semi-hardwood cutting just by sticking it into bonsai soil and keeping it in shade and watering it every day.

    Princess Persimmon Fruits

I bought from them too. Like 3 or 4 rounds of 100 seeds during last 3-4 years. Never sprouted no matter what I did. I have tried to sow them in autumn outside. Nothing. I have tried (repeatedly) to cold stratify them in fridge. Always had issue with mold. I planted the last round mixed with...
