It appears to be coming back. Most leaves turned yellow. I repotted it, which it didn't seem to need, the roots looked good. I defoliated all the yellow leaves and now it seems to be growing healthy ones. Thx for the inquiry.

I do agree there is no evidence of bugs. It s planted in a fired shale out of Arkansas with about 1/3 pine bark. The shale is very porous and all my ficus do exceptionally well planted in it, untill now. Thax, Alan

I believe it was a mineral deficiency. The amount of water required down here in 90° + temperatures probably washed most of the nutrients out of the inorganic soil. But I've been wrong before.. Often in error, never in doubt

Have been experiencing these new growth needles going totally tan (straw color) and some research I have done suggest heat. Watering once a day and twice when over 90 degrees. I was wondering what other possible causes may be at play here. It is happening on other BPs, almost entirely on new growth.

Attached is a photo of the pine bark mulch I mix 50/50 with Turface. It's not the big chunks but I don't believe it's as fine as soil conditioner. Is there any reference chart available showing the relative water retention of the various inorganic soils? ?
