It’s been a few years. I got all the dead stumps cut back and let a few branches grow. Still not sure what to do with it long term.

My 4 year old apricot died spring ‘20. It’s leaves came out just fine, they wilted, and that was the end. I was pretty bummed.
So now I’m starting over from the beginning.. this time I will no fail..
Not ugly or messy, but definitely not ideal! It’s frustrating and challenging to attempt bonsai on a small covered balcony, but I love it. At least I get good sunlight morning till noon.
A maple yardadori I collected spring ‘22. I don’t know what species, so I call it a mountain maple. The mature trees have a multi trunk, wide spreading habit. I believe the potter is John Cannon, not certain.
Almost 4 years from last update. Still alive and doing well. Not a whole lot of progress for 4 years, but a little more refined. Buddha is showing some age.
I have twin key lime trees (two separate trees from the same seed). The leaves are naturally fairly small and they were growing fruit in only six years.
I also have an avocado in a shohin pot. I’m going to leave it in this pot as an experiment, see how she does without any root work.
It’s been a few years since I updated this thread. Today I cut it way back and repotted. I’ve been working on letting it grow to thicken the branches. Now I think I will focus on ramification.
I have a crabapple I collected spring ‘22. This spring it got some growth on it’s upper roots/lower trunk. I figured it was a fungal infection. Maybe it will develop into a burl?
The artist’s b’nut name is Stickroot. According to his profile, he was last here in 2020. I bought it from a FB auction maybe 5 years ago.
