    Memorial Bonsai

I Received these at the Funeral of my Wife's Grandmother. They were the 1800 Flowers products, in crappy soil which I replaced. I didn't do much in the way of styling a few branches trimmed. Just gonna let them grow for a season.

I think it is a Mulberry but ?

I have noticed that I'm not successful at identifying tree growing wild. So before I collect this in the spring I would like to know what it is. The twin trunk caught my eye.

    Found some potential trees

Of course I am a Bonsai Nut, I can never have enough trees . The whole idea of collecting material in the urban environment is appealing to me. Beech trees are my newest obsession . Found some which I will likely cut to manageable stumps next week then collect in the spring.

    Groundhog Day

In my quiet friendly townhouse complex lives an Assh#le of a Groundhog. Last week it came by and ate some tomatoes and knocked over my Scheflera then returned the next night to pull the tomato plant off the the stand. So I spray the perimeter of my yard with varmint defense. Well last...

    Fukien Tea for My Birthday

Had my eye on this one at my local nursery for a few weeks now, always wanted a Fukien Tea but so many have the serpentine curve which I don't care for much. The price was nice ( they tend to be over Forty bucks) . Kinda was lead into a literati styling

    Root over Rocks Ficus

Trying my hand at something a little more ambitious this time. Picked up a Green Island Ficus last Wednesday, was dealing with some emotional pain and thought it would help. Anyway I got it home and got to thinking what to do with it, the roots were growing out of the nursery pot about 6 inches...

Hard pruning on my olive "Shiloh"

Well it came the time to do something about the leggy growth of this tree. Being new to Bonsai it is hard to cut back and start anew yet everything I have learned tells me to do it. Hopefully i will get some new growth and thicken the trunk. It has some taper already so it can only get better...

    Has anyone tried Dynamite Organic

Since i found out the diy fertilizer i was using was probably doing more harm than good. I dug up this from my basement box of gardening stuff. I kniw that it's winter and i don't need to fertilize until spring but i wanted some opinions on this beforehand.

    Honeysuckle Shohin Starter

Picked up this Lonicera yesterday! Not rushing to start training it, rather wait and think about it for a while. Been looking around the internet for ideas. It is similar to a boxwood in leaf size and shape.

    Ficus leaf drop

One of my ficus Pandora has dropped major leaves. I believe it caught a draft from a leaky window near my grow lights. From all i have read ficus are pretty hardy and it should bounce back. I further secured the draft so hopefully that will not reoccure .
