    Our own Pitoon

    Went to MABS--Mid-Atlantic Bonsai--this past weekend. Handsome exhibit trees and a very nice vendor area. Pitoon was there with his perfect, jewel-like mame pots. Beautiful glazes, impeccable proportions, lovely feet. And beautiful hand made boxes for the pots. Not everyone has mame-sized trees...

    Is always a complete wiring mandatory?

    Here's my experience-- Japanese white pine. An old import grafted on JBP. I wired 10 or 11 of the lowest branches to move them lower; let in some light. The tree began to abandon those lower branches in early spring and currently all of the wired branches are dead. Rest of the tree is fine...

    Anyone Kniw This Tree?

    Tsuga Canadensis--smooth[ for decades ] grey/brown bark, not much taper to branches, hemlock woolly adelgid love them, easy to ground-layer, will back-bud. Not a fave of mine.

    Bonding JBP Seedlings

    New England Bonsai Garden had an interesting JBP composed of fused seedlings. Maybe sold now--I believe it was presented as an oddity [ my word not theirs ]. The tree was from the west coast I believe.

    Well there it is..Ichinokura Sekisyu . Thanks Brian, the chop is a match on my pot. [ not the Koyo signature ] Guess I'll have to learn how to post a photo. I'm taking that juni to Natures Way for the November Mauro S. workshop. I know there's a tree somewhere under all that foliage.
