    Trimming a young Pine?

This tree is niwaki not bonsai. Multi-trunk especially for pine falls more in the advanced skill group. Try keeping it alive first, that's halfway to winning the battle. In Germany, the winters are too cold so I wouldn't do major autumn work.

    Can't wait for spring!

Winter is busy here.....repot time for pines and fruit trees, mind you the fruit trees are in cold greenhouses and the pines are thawed for two or three days before they can be repotted. Hahaha In Korea and Japan winter is a busy season.

Inorganic I meant sorry typo. They will be fine. Their natural range (China, Korea, Japan) gets to those temps. As long as they have airflow they are fine

Japanese Black Pine reverse taper problem

Cool, pumice keeps good airflow in the roots and harmful gases get lost easily when watering. Pine in general do well in in organic soils

Thickening trunks with a razor blade

Step to making an older looking tree. Grow for a long time. If I every hit a tree or used the blade method I am pretty sure Master Kim would tell me never to come back.

Japanese Black Pine reverse taper problem

one thing to remember is that we have a rainy season here too but these pines grow in really well draining soils, and in volcanic rock. So in the rainy season make sure that the pot drains really well. Pine rely on a symbiotic fungus and it dies when they get waterlogged. Dead fungus means dead...

Japanese Black Pine reverse taper problem

The wire scaring methods produces trees with zero value in Asia. Its what they sell to gullible Westerners. As for 15 years.....I have to be very honest.... I say its about 3 or 4. These grow like weeds in Japan and Korea. My rea concern is overwintering If this tree is from Okinawa you may be...

    Juniper styling assistance

Most welcome. This is a good first attempt and wiring is never easy. My advice is to take advice from the old timer's here. The noobs are well noobs, and while they do occasionally make a valid point, why not learn from the best. This site has about 1o or so world class level individuals and...
