    Kind'a a neat tree

This tree was on the river when I was on my fishing trip the past few weeks and walked by it daily. Thought it was really cool because it's actually kind'a a raft style. All three of the upright "trunks" come out of the main trunk that is half buried in the ground. Was pretty neat looking.

    Finnaly gonna happen

It's been a very rough year for me. As many of you know I lost my Sister unexpectedly at only 51 yrs old in May, then I had planned to take some time to myself on a 10 day fishing trip in June because being alone in the wood and on the river has always been a very healing things for my soul...

    Collected tree

Last summer I brought back this Maple? (think it is) from my cabin upnorth just for the heck of it to see if it would make the move. I planted it in my ground growing area and forgot about it till just today. I looked and not only did it survive, but it is pushing out a lot of new growth down...

Something finally to look fwd too

This spring has been so bad for me. With my Sister spending 2 months in the ICU then passing 3 weeks ago I just have not been my normal self where I have been able to get out and fly fish like I normally do at all. Normally I would have had at least 10-12 days on the water by now in a regular...

Took a while this year (garden)

Well this year it took a lot longer than normal. Usually I have the backyard bonsai garden all cleaned up and in shape by late April, but with my Sister spending two months in ICU and then passing 3 weeks ago, things this spring were just so out of sorts I had not had a chance to get to doing...

    Did a little painting

Been a while since I did any painting. With all that has happened recently I decided to break out the brushes and relax my mind for a bit today. Did this to hang out in the garden out back. My rendition of the tree from Game of Thrones.

    Lost my Sister

Lost my Sister Tracy tonight. After our hopes being high because surgery went so well last week, two days ago she developed a sepsis infection because of the aplastic anemia she had. I feel like I not only lost my Sister but my best friend as well. We did everything together and we always knew...

    Elm budding

Are Elms late to wake up as compared to other species? Reason I ask is last summer I bought my first Elm at the Bonsai show. Nice little tree that I think has some potential. It spent the winter in the shed storage and just took it out about 2 weeks ago. No signs of buds yet at all. It's still...

    Rc Clodbuster project #2

Back last fall I got back into the RC hobby again with a project build on my first monster truck project that most of you probably remember. While I have not finished that one yet (will this summer) I decided to start another build so I started this build project back at the end of January. The...

Wonder if I'll get a thank you card from my lungs in he mail today lol. Honestly though I had tried...

    Ficus sticky leaves

Having been inside over winter I have noticed most my ficus are getting sticky leaves. After looking it up it seems it's somewhat of a common issue with them inside and is probably a mild infestation. From what I have read it is suggested to mix a small amount of dish soap in a water spray...

    Cactus leaning

I have a cactus that I've had for about a year now (red headed irishman I believe is the species). About 6 months after getting it I noticed it started leaning/curving as it grew. I figured it was being pulled towards the lamp it sits next to so I turned it the other direction, but nope thats...

    Detroit Zoo lights

Every year the Detroit Zoo decorates with about 5 million Christmas lights. We enjoy going every year since they started doing it a while back. Took a ton of pics tonight but figured I'd share a few of them here with you guys. It's really an enjoyable thing to see and takes about an hour & a...

    Stupid question

This may be a stupid question, but I have a Hiller elm which is my first ever elm. I'm in Michigan 6B, its been down to 30's the past few noghts. I noticed the leaves on my elm are "some" are curling up. Is that normal? Like I said I'm new to elms, just want to make sure that is normal. Does it...

    Flower on a Bougie??

Sorry for the poor pic quality, its a pic of a pic my buddy sent me in an email because for some reason it would not save to my PC. Anyway, at the show back in August my buddy bought a little bougainvillea. He sent me this pic yesterday, it has a small white flower on it now. I've had bougies...

    Another project ...again

Between fly fishing, bonsai, rod building, painting, gardening and aquariums, I guess I decided I needed something else to take up those pesky 17 minutes per week of free time I had :p So I decided to get back into a hobby I use to be big into back many many years ago, RC trucks. Back in the...

    Worth messing with? (burning bush)

Was at Lowes today and couldn't resist looking through the garden center when I saw the big 75% off sign. Not a lot left but I did pick up this burning bush. I really couldn't pass it up for only $5. Never had a burning bush before so just wondered if you guys thought this would be worth working...

    Azalea issue

I've had this Azalea for about 5 years now. It's always been healthy and blooms very nice every spring. I've been noticing though these past 2-3 weeks that there is about 2 branches on the lower right where the leaves turned brownish and dropped. The branches themselves are still very much alive...

    Something a little different

Being OCD can be a blessing as well as a curse. While I enjoy creating things to the best detail I can, it would actually be nice to just sit and do nothing sometime perhaps lol. Been working on this for a bit of time here & there in between waiting for customer rods to dry and such. Probably...

    Humidity chamber for ficus?

I did some searching and found a few threads where people have used more a less a humidity "dome" before where they use a cup of water, but I'm wondering if anyone here has built any sort of larger humidity chamber where you are actually piping in humidity? I'm asking because we've only got...
