I got one of Nao’s 14” ovals, a few smaller pots from Vicki and a couple of jitas from Austin. Wrapped them all in paper and was able to fit them in two stacks in my 22” roll on bag. Loved your pots, by the way - next time.🙂
Seeing yours and others’ photos of the trees late in the day, I regret that I was never at the venue at that time to view the trees - really a ‘golden hour’ effect.
She participated in a ceramics discussion with three other ceramicists today at PBE and really did not sound like she was going to stop making bonsai pots.
Some historically significant trees here, like the Daimyo Oak, gifted by Japan to the US envoy to China during the Lincoln administration, and the Mas Imazumi Black Pine.
I think for a believable image of ancient, you could eventually jin one of the remaining branches (I’d say the
left). Here’s a Sierra Juniper for inspiration:

Did a structural setting at the end of May, beginning of June, 2020:
It continued to respond well, so I got it into a bonsai container in late June, 2021:
This spring, it was loaded with fat, healthy buds, so I did the first full styling last week:
Yesterday, I did shoot selection and needle plucking, and I removed a couple of branches which would lead to structural flaws. I also re-positioned some branches, as well as the apex.
Thanks to an unplanned stay in NYC last weekend, due to a missed airline connection, I was able to walk the High Line and found the Winter Hazels quite charming (click on the thumbnails for better detail).
