    Large Winged Elm

Hey Julian, I eyed that tree for awhile also. Here was my plan if I didn’t get a huge elm earlier this year. You could have airlayered the top of the main tree, which would have made an awesome shohin. Airlayer the smaller branch to make a windswept or slant style and what velodog2 suggested on...

    Help ID this flowering quince?

So picked this flowering quince several weeks ago. Was in a 15gallon pot forever so did a quick repotting before the winter hits. To my surprise it started to flower. Also to my surprise I thought it was a toyo nishiki but it's all mostly orange red to deep red flowers! If anybody can help me id...

    Cortorted Japanese Quince

Hey all, thanks for the comments but I'm pretty happy for only caring for them less than 5 years. Also from raw stock. Most Japanese quince have a tough time to thicken up. The ones you see in in Japanese shows are 75-100 years old So yah mine are babies with another generation to mature...

    Cortorted Japanese Quince

Of course I do Judy. The largest branch 3/4" and at this point its brittle and its only by cutting back I would get movement on those main branches. Tom

    Cortorted Japanese Quince

Soil mixture. I get it from Mt Fuji Nursery in Upland California. Lindsay the owner uses 50% black lava scoria and 50% cactus mix potting soil. I amend it with 10% humus compost. Just helps retain that moister better in 100+ temp for 20+ days here in Los Angeles during the summer peak. They get...

    Cortorted Japanese Quince

I had this tree for 3 years in a 5 gallon nursery pot. I got tired seeing it in one this year so i repotted it in one of the extra pots i had around. Feeding: thats a good question. They eat like well a teenager. I did notice they love acidic mixture, feeding program is about every 2-3 weeks of...
