    Nice curves, frankenfoot.

Love when they leaf out but must stay vigilant as bugs are after the new growth already!

Mid Atlantic Bonsai Society Spring Festival, Harrisburg, PA April 19-21 2024

I feel this. Wish i could go but between kids activities and wife's incoming bday, i have to keep on being responsible. Closest thing to a bonsai demo that i get to see will be if i throw on karate kid and watch Miyagi catch flies with chopsticks in between working his junipers.

    Created a little Cascade

Nice. this one is well on it's way... if I may offer a suggestion. Lose one of the cascading branches. Choose one and make that the cascading branch from which to develop pads.

    Shimpaku styling

My 2 cents. You won't get a thicker trunk on this tree without putting in the ground for years of leaving it alone to grow unchecked. I certainly wouldn't do that or do a chop of any kind. The trunk already has nice movement and branches appear to be in good spots. I'd style it to wire branches...

    Share Your MAPLE LITERATIS

Closest i've got to a literati maple although doesn't really fit the bill. I've grown this one from seed and it's been fun. For the last two seasons i've debated layering off the top 3 or 4 inches and then chopping to just about the lower set of branches. for whatever reason i haven't done it. I...

Things that drive me crazy about bonsai people

Agree! I've been at it over a decade and i remember early on learning that I should just pipe down and listen. More often than not, i still keep thoughts to myself. I want to have a real good handle on it before i start preaching. I do think in order to be very well rounded at bonsai and have...

Things we love about bonsai people

Seconding a lot of what has been said. I love bonsai people who share their experiences, good and bad, provide detailed info. Members of this site are the reasons that kept me going early on in my bonsai journey through both their advice and the inspiration their trees brought me. also, bonsai...

Things that drive me crazy about bonsai people

Bonsai people who feel the need to constantly exclaim they are outside the box thinkers and the rules don't apply to their trees because bonsai is a magical art of self expression and their trees are unique in their own way. Similar to Paul's post above, these people are often keen on impressing...

    Projects

Excellent. I find great enjoyment starting things from seed and watching the process. It is not easy and results just aren’t guaranteed regardless of planning. And developing trees with good characteristics early on like you have with these and their bases…very good work.
