My dwarf umbrella tree that I’ve had for 2.5 years isn’t doing well

I think the problem is it has dried out at one stage so the roots have died off . I strike cuttings of these in a glass of water all the time . They don’t mind wet feet . The mother plant that I strike the cuttings from is a root over rock that sits permanently in a bowl of water . It definitely...

    Would it make it?

Casuarina will backbud profusely when pruned hard . You would have no problem turning this tree into a smaller tree . Go back .

Kunzea parvifolia . An Australian native . I spent about two hours pruning it back after it flowered . To my eye it still looks a bit heavy but I need good growth to recover from a early summer repot I am about to do . A bit tall but it’s light in the hand .

Have you thought about doing a ground layer or a few grafts to improve the roots ? Walters roots would probably look better planted a bit deeper in the pot but they look the ‘look ‘ . Just my opinion of course .

I have seen some nice ones around . You don’t often see large berberis bonsai because they tend to grow in clumps rather than with a trunk . The autumn colour can be spectacular and they have beautiful tiny flowers . They back bud on old wood to the point that is annoying and can be a little...
